October 10: If I can’t be true to the things that I do… “God Only Knows” from the 2018 album Tree of Forgiveness by John Prine who would have been celebrating his 75th birthday today if he hadn’t died on April 7, 2020, of complications caused by COVID-19. This song was written by John Prine and Phil Spector and is sung here with Amanda Shires and Jason Isbell. If you’re like me, you can’t get enough John Prine, so listen to Elaine Camerota’s song suggestions: Spanish Pipedreams and Illegal Smile (Elaine was inspired by a post on Dan Woog’s 06880 blog).
